i have brand new fuzion tires for the winter... I switched my stock bridgestones out like a week and a half ago. im not stupid enough to run low profile tires in the winter Despite me being 20 years old, doesn't make me physically retarded. I've been into cars since i was 15 years old... ended up being a light duty tech for Honda and i actually have a brain. The simple question i had was if that was too much weight for the rear diff. to handle. and since basically my question was answered i asked another question to see if my theory of extra weight wouldn't hurt the diff. even though it was basically placed right on top... but i do thank you for helping me out and looking into the best intrest for me and the car.
Didn't think or intend to suggest any retardation. Personally I think you could easily overload the car and if your not racing (vteching) keep the diff in one peice without any problems.

my experience with lowering tire PSI from 34 to 28 all around on my 99 miata, 55 series tires michelins led to one of the tires losing all pressure and sliding off the wheel when I hit some show and started spinning tires. I don't recommend this.

well, I wouldn't recommend raising it either!

Actually more like 8lbs.
Go weigh a gallon of milk and get back to me.

If you needed to brake under hard conditions I would guess the 240 lbs in back would really unbalance the car. I would think 50-75 lbs would do the trick.

WTF does how much a gallon of milk weigh have to do with how much a gallon of gas weighs? Should it be whole milk 2% or skim? How about you go and weigh a gallon of gas and get back to me Either way milk doesn't weigh the same as gas. The typical weight of gasoline at 72 degrees F is around 6.25lbs per gallon. So the first guy was right and that makes you correct about how much a typical gallon of milk weighs but not gas. I don't think its a wise choice to fill up your tank with milk either.

Weight of One Gallon (U.S.) of Water, Gasoline, and Ethanol
1 gallon of water equals 8.33 lbs.
1 gallon of gasoline equals 5.8 to 6.5 lbs.
1 gallon of ethanol equals 6.59 lbs.

[QUOTE=day1si,Dec 10 2005, 08:01 AM]I stand corrected.

In general a gallon of LIQUID weighs apx 8lbs. Milk is just a basic liquid most people have sitting around in gallon form.

Liquid weight is just an estimate though.

I keep 40lbs of sand in the trunk of my Miata in winter, and it makes it much more managable. But, a first gen Miata is a fair bit lighter than an S2k.
