There are good salvaged an bad salvaged. really the definition of salvaged is a joke. theres some that are completely junked and some that look no different from any other car...really depends on which one..ive sold restored/salvaged cars for a while and theres def. some good deals out there

FYI, a ton of accidents do not show up as a salvaged title on carfax. (Cause don't rebuilt ones become salvaged?)
My friend's Rav4 got into 2 wrecks, one where the fender was rebuilt and such, anyways when I bought a month of carfax to look for a good s2k, he asked me to look up his Rav. In conclusion, even after 2 wrecks (one being a police report with insurance) carfax still showed it as a clean title.
CarFax is only good for seeing if the car has been stolen, how many owners it has had, and if it was in a hurricane area.
You really need someone to check the s2k for problems before buying, as well as using your eyes to look for stuff like curb rash.
I noticed that 2/3 s2ks I looked at had been in wrecks that didn't show on carfax.
