Default Salvage Insurance?

If I'm going to insure an s2000 that was once a salvage title, how much will it cost me compared to a non-salvage title? More, Less, Or Same?

Does anyone have an idea what it will cost in general?
I have an unsafe driving ticket, as well as an accident (rearended) about a year ago. I'm in NJ

Is there a specific insurer I should look into?

Thanks

I know a lot of insurance companies will not insure a salvage title vehicle, so the best is to find one that will insure you in the first place.

I figure the rate would be the same but you won't get much back for your car if it's stolen or involved in an accident since the market value for your car would be far less than one of a clean title.

I doubt you will be able to get full coverage. I have a salvage Suburban, good record and we couldn't get full coverage.

my salvage civic si got stolen before.
Mercury told me for salvage title, they only paid 50% for it
the representative also told me, most of the insurance company paid 50% for salvage title when the car is total loss

I've owned probably 4 rebuilt title cars and never had a problem insuring them. Same cost and coverage as a non rebuilt auto. One of my friends had his 03 rebuilt BMW burnt in a fire and recieved the full cars value, basically he got back a few grand more then what he paid for the car. Check with your insurance agent but I've never heard of anyone having a problem around here and I know a bunch of people that have rebuilt titles.

When looking into a salvage-titled BMW for my son, my insurance carrier (Liberty Mutual) said they'd cover it as long as the Bimmer was currently registered as a private passenger vehicle. The cost for liability, comp and collision would be the same as for a clear title. However, coverage limits for comp and collission would be capped at the value as assessed at the time of loss. That means that I'd be paying as though it was a $10k car, but get substantially less (i.e. ~$5k) if it was wrecked. While it makes sense on liability, it's not worth it if I don't make lower payments for the lower comp/collision limit (that's very poor pot odds). With a 16 y.o. boy, waiving comp/collision coverage on their primary vehicle substantially lowers the premium.

If I do the BMW deal for him, that means he'll be pedalling around in heck of a lot nicer car I drove at his age, but he'll have to pay for any bent fenders he causes out of his pocket.

I believe as many have mentioned, the cost would be about the same as if it was a non-rebuilt car. Now if you total the car, the cost will not be the same as a non-rebuilt car. Check with your insurance for percentages regarding that. Oh, and not all insurance companies will insure a salvage vehicle as well.
