...which is $2k over MSRP...I told him I would take my business elsewhere.
MSRP should be completely possible right? Even in Northern Cal?
Thanks for the advice.

Where in Nor Cal have you been looking?
I'm in San Jose and have checked out a few local dealers, so far they all seem to be low on stock and asking over MSRP (part of the reason I haven't bought yet).

cyber x,
yes I am in the south bay area like you. low availability could be because the 03's are coming and they want dealers to have their stock cleared...if I find a good place to do biz with I will PM you.

Dealer offered me $1000 over MSRP, just briefly chatting. I think I could work him to MSRP, but I'm not ready to buy yet.
And if I sat down to talk, I probably would have been driving home with the top down.

I can't comprehend why anyone would pay over MSRP for a car that has been out for three years. Even in the Bay Area I was able to secure one for MSRP with a bit of research and negotiation. Put yourself in the right position to negotiate (i.e. no trade, preapproved, serious buyer) and anyone can get this car anywhere in the US for at/less than MSRP. No offense, but if I wasn't able to negotiate MSRP I would have bought used or bought a different car. Paying over MSRP will kill you on resale especially if you finance any part of the vehicle.

Exsilio,
I just got mine at Auto mall. They just got a silver/red in yesterday and I am sure you can get it for MSRP. If you are interested, PM me and we can head up together and talk to the manager who sold me the car.
