S2K in Snow..... How does it behave?
I am in Chicago land area and a week awat from buying a S2K. Haven't yet finalized the dealer yet but Jacobs Twin seems to have enough reputation to try...
Anyway, How does this car behave in snow and cold, wet weather? Is hard top option something I can add later?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It handles like shit in the snow, I imagine that if you had snow tires then it may not be so bad. I have S02's and it's not a snow tire by any means, got caught in a snow storm last year and didn't think I was going to make it home. A bit on the stressful side. Other than snow absolutely no complaints.

You absolutely must have winter or snow tires. Look for the RMA "Snowflake on the Mountain" symbol. The common "M+S" doesn't mean anything useful in this context. Winter tires are almost as good as snow tires, but trade a little snow/ice traction for improved dry/wet performance. Many people in the Chicagoland 'burbs prefer winter tires since the metro area does a pretty good job clearing the roads.
Good winter tires: Nokian Hakkapellitta NRW, Dunlop Winter Sport M2, Pirelli Snowsports, Birdgestone Blizzak LM-22, Michelin Pilot Alpins, etc.
Good snow tires: Nokian Hakkapellitta Q, Bridgestone Blizzak MZ-01/02, Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50, Goodyear Winter Ice, Michelin Arctic Alpin, Dunlop Graspic, etc.
Another comment: the limited slip differential will both help and hurt the snow performance. This has also been discussed at length. In essence, like low profile tires, it sharpens the transition between being in control and being out of control. You get less warning of impending 'nonlinear behavior'. You will have more initial control with both rear tires being powered, but when they lose traction you lose the rear end. This doesn't mean the car is unsafe, but that the limits are both higher and sharper.

I'd recommend having a hardtop from the offset if you're going to get one, then you don't have to trust in the workmanship of the dealer's mechanics as its done at the factory, I was lucky they did a great job.
