Right now I have Hankook RS-3 in back (almost done) and Dunlop Sport Maxx TT in front. Will replace with RE-11A soon. I like to keep trackworthy tires on the car in the less frozen months

LOL....I was driving on the interstate @ 72 mph, hit a snow squall and in your terms "burst into flames". Never felt this out of control with so little snow. Slowed down to 40mph with people flashing their hi-beams. LOL

Summer tires turn into hockey pucks in cold weather.

Buy a set that actually stay pliable and grip, rather than slide.

Summer tires in 3" or less of snow is awesome! So long as you're not really trying to go anywhere. Had the best time driving the s around downtown with the roof down! Granted I didn't go above 20mph. As soon as it started to freeze a little or becoming slushy it went back into hiding. It's also a great way to learn how to control the car, use the throttle to steer etc.
