s2k front license plate
hey guys..newbie here, bought a 02 spa yellow s2k a few weeks ago ...its grounded right now with only 350 miles on it with loads of stupid nj insurance issues...kinda sucks, but oh well. anyway, i was just wondering if anyone in nj new if it is legal or not to put the front license plate in the windshield rather than on the ugly front plate holder on the front of the car. thanks...have a nice day all

I recently moved to Vermont and just registered my car. I know Vemont laws say I should have the front plate on, but I wondered what the penalty is for no plate. In California, it was a "fix-it" ticket and only costs about $15. If it's similar here, it's worth the risk. Anyone know?

I've had my S since May of 01 and removed my front plate bracket and haven't had any problems with the police here in Ohio. The key is not to give them a reason to pull you over or they will add "no front plate" to your ticket. Thousands of Vettes have been out there for years without front plates, it's time we had our chance. The S looks so much better without the plate and it gets better air flow without the obstruction.

some cops here in nj pull you over for the sole reason of not having a plate...as for shaving the mounts...you could just unscrew it and pop in those front bumper caps that you can buy at the dealer or at handaaccessories.com

In NJ (where I purchased my S2K), they actually put my temporary tag in the front windshield - which would imply that is an acceptable place. That being said - I'd bet you could get ticketed for no front plate (letter of the law) by putting the permanent tag there.
I'm coming up on 1 year without one at all. No issues. I do however take care to avoid putting myself in positions where I could get written up for it.
