s2k compared to a civic
#21
sometimes I am so tempted to get a vanity plate for my si "SLWCVC"
no comparison guys - and supposedly I own "the most powerful civic ever made"
The Si (to me at least) feels like an underpowered car with crappy brakes with vague turn in and weird darty steering at speed. But it serves its purpose(daily driver) well and handles great for a cheap little hatch. The S never feels underpowerd to me. Ever. The Si feels uncomfortable at redline - the S screams to be there all the time. FWIW.

Ok, this is not following the flow of conversation, but it does amuse me:
Heh-heh- I went to the beach this summer with the S, and one afternoon I noticed a hot chick and her not-so-bad looking mom checking out my car. Hot chick's dad walks by and says "That's nothing but a convertible Civic." Turns out the mom's nephew is a pro baseball player with a black S2k and takes them for rides in the offseason. Any way, the two ladies spend the next eight days begging me for a ride, it became a running joke. This really po'd the dad because he is way too fat to fit in an S2k- he drives a loser Navigator because it is all he can fit in. Oh, yeah, I used to own a Civic and I loved it, so I'm not trying to insult a Civic.
So, the moral is that you can directly equate a Civic with an S2k, if you are too fat to fit in an S2k and your wife and daughter want to jump the bones of the guy driving the S2k. Pic of convertible Civic parked next to loser Navigator:

Like many have said already, it's not the same. I have a '99 Civic EX Coupe 5spd as a daily driver. When stock, it's an excellent commute car with very good fuel economy, but it's definitely not as fast as the S2000 below VTEC.

I own both a 99 civic dx hatchback and an 03 s2000. Although they're both hondas and they both handle well, to say that the s2000 is like the civic below 6000 rpm is incorrect. the s2000 feels heavier and is more stable at speeds above 100mph. the s2000 has much more torque than the civic at all engine speeds. the s2000's interior has a much higher quality feel. People who cloud their judgements with generalizations are ignorant.
