Oz S2K Owners

Just wondering what you people had to pay for your S2Ks?

I notice the members in the USA seem to have to pay above retail very often just to secure the car.

We have fairly strict fair trading laws here so dealers can't charge over RRP (MRSP as you guys call it).

The S was $69,995 plus onroad which brought it to $75K. I believe since the introduction of GST (Get Stuffed Tax I think) it has dropped to $68,500 plus on road.

Some dealers hear bought S's and drove them for 15km then sold them second hand for $80K in the first months of delivery but only the rich, stupid (or possibly American ) fell for this one.

Mine was actually a prize in a contest for purchasers of accounting software. I didn't win it though. The winner didn't want it so the dealer sold it for them untitled. The waiting list was 8 months when I ordered mine. After 6 months the dealer rang me and told me this one was available so I snapped it up. Actually managed to sell my BMW the night before.

Well, that's my life story.

75K AUS = APP 40K US, so we're fortunate- even those who have to pay a couple of thousand over MSRP get out the door for about what you 3 paid- which was probably about average here in the US (I know lots of US buyers paid MSRP, but lots didn't, and many also had to pay a bit extra for floormats, aeroscreens, etc- which are generally pretty inflated in price, even at "dealer cost")

You Austral folks get an amazing variety of cars- And I thought your S2000s were slightly more powerful than ours (5 extra HP?)- I know in some markets the s2000 has 245 HP. I'm confused- the s2000 has 176kw=235 HP in Aus, correct? That would make it slightly less powerful. Anyway...

I can't really give you a price as I used my old car as a trade in.

Most of these differences have to do with the type of horse power unit you use. With the exception of Japan, I think most S2000's are the same power wise.

I think it was DavidM who questioned our slower 0-100kmph times. The difference was explained by our methods of testing (two people, idle start, full tank) and that 100kmph is 62mph.
