Just an update from my post last summer, since this thread has popped up again. I registered my complaint about the AC when I brought my S2000 in for it's first oil change. The dealer checked the system and found it to be a little low on the freon charge. They charged it up and it did somewhat better. Here we are, almost a year later and are coming back into summer time and I'm finding that my S2000's AC is working about like it did last summer. That is, it cools, but.......

On the next service interval, I'm going to have them check it again. If they say it's low on freon again, then we'll have to try to find out where it's leaking from. If not, then I don't know what'll happen. We'll see.......

I dunno, I found at least 10 different threads on here complaining about A/C cycling. Some people saying it's normal, a bunch more pointing out that even other Hondas (I've owned two other Hondas before my S2000 for example) do NOT cycle the A/C on a duration such that the air coming out of the vents is barely colder than the cockpit air even on recirc. It seems like either a design flaw, or a common failure of some sort. It sucks because next weekend I have about 10 hours of driving across the desert and it's not gonna be much fun if the A/C is lousy the whole time.

Most commonly the problem is that the A/C system has run out or low on the gas, as mentioned above. This can also be symptomatic of a leak in your A/C system.

If you have the gas re-filled, ask them to put a tracer in the gas and check whether there are any leaks present.

Also, some A/C units are designed to only go a certain amount below the outside air temp. Going from a really cold environment to a hot one quickly is bad for your health anyway.

Living in Sydney we are all too familiar with those sorts of temperatures, great roof-down weather in my opinion

i dunno what a/c is as the temp is 70 every day. but the cycling you here is normal. when it the compressor doesn't cycle at all there is usually an issue.

I can't really add much to this topic apart from it's averaging 40C - 42C now and my AC seems to be dealing with it fine. It cools very quickly thanks in no part to the small cabin and I drop it down to one light on and it's fine.

I'll let you know what it's like in the height of summer when it's often over 50C!

My AC seems to work VERY weel.. I never go past 3-4 bars and it always works well. This is coming from someone who will be stepping out into hot ass 97 degree weather today.

My a/c also works VERY well. I run with 3-bars on inside air/4-bars outside air for air volume, but turn the temperature dial slightly toward the warm side.With the temperature on max and fan around half, it gets so cold my hands start to hurt.(and no...I don't have arthritis )

p.s this is in 100+ temps.
