It'd probably be much more practical to put that money towards a supercharger or turbocharger, rather than take a hit in depreciation for 10% increase in power only.
I really don't see why everyone is getting this excited over a supposed 10-20 horsepower and torque increase. All this is going to do is provide a little more torque down low for those that can't appreciate the true beauty for what it is already. The only thing this is going to help in is rush hour driving which my car doesn't see any of. I'll take a Vortech.

Back in 1999, for the 32k price of an S2000, there was nothing that could really touch it unless you went for a straightline monster like a Mustang Cobra or a SS Camero. However, fast forward to today. The horsepower wars have begun and Honda has been left behind (as far as their sports/sporty cars go).
for 30k you can get:
1. 350z- 287 hp and 274 ft/lbs of tq
2. Lancer EVO VIII- 271 hp and 273 ft/lbs of tq
3. WRX STi- 300 hp and 300 ft/lbs of tq
4. RX-8- 250 hp and 159 ft/lbs of tq (yes, it isnt really faster but is more practical and has a better interior for cheaper and is similar in performance)
5. Infinity G35 Coupe- 280 hp and 270 ft/lbs of tq
THIS IS NOT TO SAY THAT THE S2000 IS A BAD CAR!!! The S2000 is a great car, but, no one wants to get beat by a Maxima at a stop light in their sports car. I mean I get pissed that a new Accord V6 can run with my "hardcore" car. Times are changing and instead of being hesitant to want changes, we should be trying to get the more from the car manufacturers. Everyone with a S2000 now, seems to have to defend the current F20C, and there's nothing wrong with that. BUT do you really wanna see Honda get left behind? What if Nissan came out with a 315 hp, lightened, and stiffer suspension 350z? Would you want the S name to be shamed by getting absolutely destroyed? The more the manufacturers get into a horsepower pissing war, the better. I mean, this is a great time to be an enthusiast.
Everyone who says that the bore cant be increased is speaking from a AFTERMARKET point of view. Honda can just make a block based on the F20C and enlarge the bores, instead of literally boreing out the currect F20C.
I'm not saying that the S2000 needs 300 hp and needs to keep up with the STi. The S will be a great car on its own merit. However, I do think it needs an update to keep up with the changing times and greater competition in order to be a seller for Honda. I dont think they need another NSX type deal. I love the NSX too, but I think everyone would agree that performance wise, it's been left behind.

What are we arguing anyway? The S2200, or whatever it's going to be called is coming regardless of what we say or do. So now what? Honda has already decided on the engine and power output, so now all we can do is wait.
So now I have a new question. How much of a drop in value will my car take now? I already have an undesirable MY00 with the plastic window and 48,000 miles. After the style change, I will never break even with selling my car off. Man, I'm about to be in the hole if I want the new S.
