S2000 vs. WRX
#11
Z06, i happen to be a girl. but that's still a selling point
personally, i'm all about working on the car, and with the saved money from the WRX i think i could make it a real street monster, where as the S2000 would be a slower process.
If i got the S2000 i'd still want to take it all the way, i was even looking into turbo or supercharging it within the first month or so. That will most likely void my warranty anyway.
It's such a hard choice

Drive them both, but do it on a warm sunny day and put the top down on the S. WRXs are sweet cars but there is no way in hell I would trade my S2000 for one. Now if I could only come up with another 20k I could have both....

I'm not a huge WRX fan (simply because of the 'wagon' look, etc..) BUT..someone did make the comment that they don't handle as well.
I hate to tell you this, but the Auto-X I went to this weekend, the WRX's were doing just as well (if not better) times than the S2K. So, don't underestimate the potential of the car.
80% car, 20% driver.

WRX is a good, even great, car, but IMO it isn't nearly as fun as the S2K. I drove one back to back with my S2K and was disappointed with:
1. The acceleration - yes, it can leap off the line, but underway its slower than the S2K - noticeably so.
2. Steering response - S2K isn't the best in the world, but the WRX isn't as good.
3. Turn in/grip - sure, tires play a role, but it isn't as good in the WRX.
4. Balance - understeer - S2K doesn't really know what that is.
5. Suspension - great for rally, but too soft with too much pitch/roll compared to the S2K
And of course its ugly and not a convertible...
That said, it is far more practical with greater mod potential than the S2K. And its cheaper. It'll never be a convertible, but an S2K will never be a 4dr AWD car either :-). Depends on what you need.

Well, there are two ways of looking at it:
a) If you're looking at the ultimate funmobile that will make you pee your pants with joy everytime you drive (make sure you have seat protectant ) then get the S2000... I've just been a passenger in one but GODDAMN Stooks make you feel good. Buuuuut...
b) if you're more practicality minded plus are looking for a great bang-for-your-buck performance, the WRX is a superb car. It can also go farther and longer than the S2000, but that really isn't a point of contention.
Basically... I'd say test drive both, and go with the one that speaks to you the most... for me, it was March 15th 2000 when I fell in love with the S2000... I saw one at a car show and just nearly sh!t my pants it spoke to me so much
