The following was in the Ariz Republic newspaper 9-7-06. The 2006 cars with the best projected residual value after five years of ownership, with the percentage of original value each is likely to retain: 1. Honda S2000 51.7% , 2. Mini Cooper 51.5%, 3. Acura TSX 47.7%, 4. BMW M3 47.6%, 5. M-Benz SL class 47.0%, 6. M-Benz AMG 47.0%, 7. Infiniti G35 46.9%, 8. Acura RSX 46.5%, 9. Lexus SC 430 46.5%, 10. Subaru Impreza WRX STI 46.4%

That's about right. I bought mine for 30K over 5yrs ago. Recently, it was totaled, and I got 16,500 for it.

kbb on my car, 1.5 years ago, was $20,788. now, +20k miles, it is $20,200. not bad if you ask me!

Bought the car used for $18,000. The book value for my +1 year, +10,000 miles is still at $18,000.

I've had 2 S2000s totalled (not my fault ) and have received about what I paid both times.

my MY01 with 53K was hit by a DUI last July and I got $21K for it. I got about $25K for my MY03. Of course, this was from USAA who did it on subrogation, so I think they were pretty generous (as they just get whatever they paid me from the "at fault" insurer).
