Type S makes sense to me, but I value the S as a convertible.
Me too. I respect (and like) the CR for what it is, but I value my folding top.

Do you think the lack of a folding top will keep CR owners from talking down other S2000's the way some AP2 owners like to talk down the AP1? I hope not, becasue I'd enjoy seeing some of the guys get a dose of their own medicine.

LOL, that's not really true. I'd hate to see any more people having to put up with that kind of nonsense. I hope and believe that the CR owners will have a more mature view of personal preferences. I also think the S Type is pretty cool, and I'd really love to see a "base car" with all the CR options that are compatible with the rag top.

Other than the top, are the Type S and the CR the same?

That video is really confusing. Looking at the specs from the video (describing how much stiffer the TypeS is), it looks as if the TypeS is merely a 2008 base model with an aero kit. The CR's suspension is much stiffer than that. But then, when I look at the sway bar thiuckness provided by the video, it looks as if Honda used the same thickness for both front and the back, which is neither the case in CR or base model is US/Canada.

Anyway, I think the CR should have kept the soft top. I think that would be my biggest complaint of having a CR. Otherwise, CR = imo

Type-S and CR is pretty much same car.
key differences:

1. Type-S has softtop and CR has hardtop
2. CR's suspension is set for track while Type-S's suspension is for backroad/mountain driving(Softer than CR)
3. Type-S has same tire as base, CR gets wider tire in the back with different tire.

Honda claimed CR runs their test track full 2seconds faster than base with RE070, while according to best motoring, Type-S runs close to 3 seconds faster 2'57"24 vs 3'00"09 with same RE050 as stock.
I wish honda gave us the Type-S too instead of CR.
Not worth the extra money imo.

Other than those two, Type-S has extra bracing under the softtop like the CR, which is way better than CR imo.
^^^ i would like to see picture proof that the Type S has bracing under the softop. not calling you out, i would just like to see pictures.

It was my understanding that the ragtop had to be omitted to make room for the bracing in the CR.

Can someone post a picture of the bracing in their CR?

i'm sorry for non verified information.
i saw it some where that the type-s also had bracing even with the softop.
couldn't find any pix or info on it to verify it.

also, i found that the type-s has same tire setup as base.
