Thanks Henry,

That's the kind of figure I've been asking for. Good info.

Did 164 mph on my top speed dyno run in 6th gear. This would indicate that anything
remotely near that on a road where the car is actually receiving drag would result from
conditions (downhill, rear wind, etc) that would nullify its truth.

Of course it is to some extent subjective. At 135 I can CLEARLY feel the S2000 lifting at the rear, but it's still not really "unstable." At 130 the car feels as planted as it does at 120 or 110.. and compared to many cars it is "remarkably stable" at those speeds. However (sorry to bring up my wife's Benz again), at 130, the Benz feels as well glued to the road as the S2000 does at 80!!!!! "Remarkably stable" probably depends on what you are use to driving. At 150 our Jag is much more stable than the S2000 is at 135, to the point that there is just no comparison. 135 feels fast in the S2000, but 145 in the Jag feels like a comfortable cruising speed.

I do not agree that the S2000 is unstable at 130, but by 135 it is clear that the rear is lifting and things aren't what they could be.

You'll always feel like you're travelling faster in a car that is very low to the ground regardless of make.

True, and also true that an open car seems to be going faster than a closed car, but all totally irrelevant. I wasn't discussiong how fast it FEELS, but about how stable it IS. BIG difference.

At 60 mph my go-cart feels like you

I have compared mine to my GPS up to around 80 and it is within 0.5 mph, so the error is not that significant, though that error will grow by the time you get way up there. My Jeep Cherokee by comparison is 5 mph slower (per GPS) at highway speeds than the speedo indicates.

The S is geared for about 175 MPH, but there isn't enough torque to get us there. We'll stop increasing speed before redline in sixth gear(because of aerodynamic problems)...that's why FI helps, it gives us the added power to overcome that wall that the wind creates.
