so, of course increasing horsepower on a drag limited car will increase its top speed
As you in your post - no, will not always increase the top speed. It will increase it untill it is gear-limited (ie. the final gear at cut-out), but then no matter how much power your throw into it, it will not go any faster. You said it in your onw post and Gswetsky covered in his right before.
At 135 I can CLEARLY feel the S2000 lifting at the rear, but it's still not really "unstable."
An S2000 has been measured to have 60kg or 'rear lift' at 200kpp (ie. 125mph). O course, as speeps increase, the 'lift' will get greater. 60kg 'lift' at 125mph is pretty significant ... Boxster S has 24kg of rear-lift at the same speed.

on a drag limited car increasing power will increase the top speed.
a drag limited car is necessarily not a gear limited car, otherwise it'd be a gear limited car.
so increasing power on a drag limited car will always increase the top speed, until a point it becomes gear limited. then it will not. but at this point it is no longer drag limited, so the statement no longer applies. everything is consistent.

Cool, point taken. When I read it, it sounded like the top speed can be increased infinatelly, if given enough power on a 'drag limited' car.
Here was my atempt to find out the top speed before i ran out of road....
You know, you can kind of work out what 'true' speed you were doing as you the rev-couter is pretty accurate. It shows 8,200rpm in 6th gear. That translates to 153mph (ie. 245kph) when ging by the gearing of the S2000.
Concidering that you saw 159mph at this point (ie. as in the picture), that indicates that at these speeds there is ~6mph (ie. ~10kph) speedo-error at these speeds. The photo of 159mph @ 8,200rpm also indicates that if you could ever reach the redline in 6th gear, you would see 175mph (ie. 281kph) on the speedo. That is exactly what is seen in the TurboDave's video where he's bouncnig off the limiter in 6th. Though, accordning to the gearing, it was more like 168mph (ie. 269kph) 'true' speed.

I stopped tracking this thread for a wile, and when I finally got around to checking it, your post was at the top of the last page. Since it is addressed to me, I'm going to go ahead and respond before reading the rest of the posts, so if I end up repeating something others have already said, just ignore me.
Excellent info on the lift. Makes sense. The car weighs roughly 2800 lbs. and the rear tires are carrying 1/2 that, or 1400 lbs. 60kg of lift at 125 MPH is about 132 pounds of lift, and by 135 MPH the lift is going to be over 140 pounds, or 10%. It's enough to feel.
I've been looking for lift and drag numbers (coast-down figures too) but haven't found any. Where'd you get your numbers from?

I don't get your point about horsepower increases on a drag limited car. "As long as the car is drag limited, increasing horsepower will always increase its top speed." The fact that with enough power you will eventually reach the point where you are no longer drag limited doesn't alter the accuracy of the statement.
