I've heard truck tire carcasses called "road gators," and they are becoming an ever increasong problem/hazard. At the last PCA autocross the local Corvette club tried to make a showing, but while caravaing to the event they ran up on a road gator, and one by one a number of the cars ran over the thing. There were Vettes stopped by the road all over I-75 with front end parts scattered all over the place. I've had to dodge two carcasses within the last month.

I sure hope this problem isn't getting as bad every where else as it is around here.

Very sorry to hear of this happening to one of our own.

Sorry to hear about this.

I had part of a truck tire destroy the front lip on my Celica. The good news is that if the object was moving on the road (ie. kicked up from another car, just blown in front of you, ect.) you can mention this and it will fall under comp coverage. This means typically lower deductibles and no raise in your rates.

I see so much crap on the freeways these days, I wonder how this doesn't happen more often.

710=playing dodgeball with your car

i broke an abs lip on my old honda, right after the day it was painted, hit a chuck of tire shell at 80 and that thing breaks into 100 pieces on the freeway on impact.

I really think CHP should be able to give massive tickets to anyone with unsecured cargo. I've seen so many pieces of furniture on the freeways, and so many other trucks that almost certainly lost stuff a few miles later. My friend's Elantra was nearly cut in half by a pole after a sofa made him swerve off the 101. To me its probably worse than drunk driving.

yea. But I have a 1000 deductible on collision and 500 on comp. I already talked to my ins. and they said it was under collision.
