That suks sorry to hear about your bumber. At least when you got out of your car to look at the damage, there wasn't blood all over your car.... hope fully it was a tire!

same thing happened to me sort of. i was driving down the interstate and the cars in front of me were either kicking a tire around or avoiding it, so by the time the guy in front of me swerved the thing was right in my lane and hit me. tire was moving, not just laying in the road. luckily, all it did was pull the front lip off. however, i had a side strake already loose, and i think the tire may have loosened it some more...anyway, my insurance adjuster told me that A. if i had run over the tire (and it was laying still, not moving) then it would have been my fault and i would have had to pay a deductable, but since it was moving then i was not at fault. good to know for the future. and B. insurance would cover up to $ XXXX.XX without affecting my rates. grand total came to $ XXXX.XX - .59. KICK ASS. anyway, sucks when stuff like that happens, i hate to see an S in distress. good luck, keep us posted.

also your wheels look awesome. good choice

Dude, sorry to hear what happened to you. In a way I'm glad you hit it head on instead of swerving. If you had swerved I'm sure the exhaust cans sitting in your car would've hit your head and done more damage.

CA is notorious for the crap on the road. Here's what happeend to me a few months ago

http://www.audiforums.com/m_504251/tm.htm

I ended up hitting a bundle of firewood which threw my car into a corner. Prior to that, I've successfully dodged fridges, industrial stainless steel sinks, box springs, and walnut tree root complete with stump (size of s2k).

I don't get that one.

I remember swerving to miss a dog once and hit a guardrail, insurance and cops said it was my fault, I should have just hit the dog.

So if the tire was stationary and you swerved to miss it, sideswiping another motorist, that would have been ok?

i never said anything about hitting another motorist, or about swerving. only that if the tire is flying around on the freeway and it hit me, then it was not my fault, whereas if the tire had been laying still and i had run over it (and it had done the same damage to my car), then i would have been at fault. apparently the same thing doesn't apply to wildlife, because i had a similar situation to yours where i hit a deer that literally ran into the side of my car, and the adjuster said the same thing yours did, that you're infinitely better off hitting the animal than swerving to miss it and wrecking your car in the ditch.

Here are the pics. I put the car up in the air to install the Exhaust. Sounds great. Quiet @ cruising and loud at WOT. My RX8 was louder tho.

The Exhaust too...
