You asked about must have mods...I've got a couple that I wouldn't be without and they are all from board sponsers!! Win-win!

Anyway, first thing for me would be get to Rick's site https://www.s2ki.com/link/gotolink/addhit/1...ick.php?adid=13 and take a look at their stuff. Outstanding quality and great prices - not to mention the best customer service you'll likely get in your lifetime. I have their shift boot, console cover (although yours has one it's vynal - blech!!) and the team voodoo shift knob. Great additions. I've also got an X-brace but not from Rick, his wasn't available when I got mine. If you're going to track your car at all or even just really enjoy spirited driving this is another worthwhile addition that you can feel! I also have an aeroscreen, again not from Rick since his didn't exist when I got mine, but a very worthwhile addition as well, especially with the custom engraving!!

A Muz mat https://www.s2ki.com/link/gotolink/addhit/1...ick.php?adid=18 for the rear window might not be a big deal for you since you have a glass rear window, but hey, it can't hurt. Muz also does great floormats (as does Rick)

Finally, one of my favorites are my rear speakers. https://www.s2ki.com/link/gotolink/addhit/1...ck.php?adid=105 If the current door speakers are anything like the ones in the 2000 model year you'll want to replace those quickly. Why not add rear speakers at the same time! Really helps the sound in the car and something I would definately recommend.

Thats all I can think of for now. You might want to search, a while ago there was a thread about most useless upgrades/options that could be quite helpful to you!!

Enjoy!

Oh, damn, forgot one that has actually SAVED me. Fiamm triple air horns. Available at Autozone, NAPA, etc. it's an easy install and there are many threads about them on the board here. Much more noise and IMHO wayyyy cooler than that squeeky piece of crap that comes in the car!!

This car comes nicely equipped. It has all the performance I want (for now at least,) so I didn't care about any new additions under the hood. Even the break in without VTEC was fun. Mine was pure stock, but I did buy the extended warranty.
Since delivery the end of May, I've got:
1. "MajorHavoc's wind blockers" (but haven't put them on, as I need all the circulation I can get in the summer).
2. Muz's aluminum counter-sunk gear shift knob (the stock one is a heat-sink! Aluminum or Titanium seem to cool off quicker.)
3. Rick's car and wheel badges (for the Mystique--they should arrive this afternoon!)
4. Wet Okole neoprene seat covers (also should arrive today! The leather seats are nice, but in the desert southwest, they will put blisters on your thighs if you're wearing shorts.)
5. A convex driver's side mirror is on order.
6. A grill guard is being seriously considered.

My dealer really didn't know much about the S2000. Didn't tell me about the break-in period (learned about it here.) Tried to explain how there is a sensor in the PAX seat so the air bag wouldn't inflate with kids in it--(maybe for the other Honda automobiles, but NOT TRUE for the S2000.) So, read all you can on s2ki.com, and you'll be well prepared for delivery. If you can't get the "dealer letter" to open, PM me and I'll e-mail it to you--I have it on my computer at home. YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE YOUR CAR!

Not needed for '02

Try it without first. I love the way the stock one works.

Sorry to disagree RU2KREDY.

Agreed. The stock stereo is useless. The '02 is upgraded but still useless.

#1- Before you drive off the lot be darn sure the dealer has removed all the spring spacers. A quick search on this will bring you up to speed.

#2- Get rid of the OEM shift knob as soon as you can. Replace it with the Voodoo MAGNUM from Rick's

#3- Take the engine break-in procedure very seriously.

#4- Check your oil level often for the first 4,000 miles. Carry a quart of oil in the tool area in the trunk along with a wad of paper towels.

#5- Do not change your oil until you have the 3,750 miles on it, and do not switch over to synthetic oil until maybe 10,000 miles.

#6- Seriously consider a Spoon X-brace. Do some searches and make your own call. I love mine, even on the streets.

#7- Make sure you mention to the dealer you will be back in a few weeks to get the TSB 02-242 (Technical Service Bulletin for spark plug replacement) done to your new car. Make sure you have them order the parts and don't let them yank your chain. The TSB states the applicable VIN #'s that are effected. Chances are you are within the range and only cars being built NOW in Japan will not need this TSB.

#8- Come here to this great forum often. People here are great! The information exchange is just amazing.

#9- Enjoy your car!

I would like to stress the check your oil often fact. The S2000 uses more oil then a normal car because of the high rpm. Checking every 1000miles will be safe. If you run low on oil during the break-in, just add honda oil. If your thinking about synthetic it is best to wait until 15,000 miles.

Just to reiterate, check the oil every 1000 miles is safe--

(1) Once you've checked it every gasoline fill-up when the car was new, and have confidence the oil level doensn't fall off quickly on YOUR car.

(2) If when you find it's low you bring it back up to FULL before the next 1000 mile wait.
