the 7 miles you see on the car is because its been driven around the track at the tochigi plant in takanezawa japan.

however, since production has been moved to the suzuka plant, do they drive it around a different track?

those with MY05's, do you see mileage on ur S when it was brand new?

next time ask the agent in the car if you can try a fast start at a light. Rev to 8k, drop the clutch, THEN tell us there is no power.....talk about tire roasting! It also feels slower because you are not shifting as much because of the 8k redline. Most cars make you shift before that. If you do not launch in VTEC, its seems like FOREVER until you get there.

I had the same exact experince today.

I test drove an 05' s2000 with 157 miles on it and it felt slower than my 96 GSR with i/h/e+itr cams.


I'm not sure why at all the chasis felt nice and stiff but the STI I drove a few days ago at the Subaru dealership felt much much faster?


I should add I didn't shift till redline, but I'm going to give the s2000 another chance I have another longer test drive lined up with the salesman on friday

i actually disagree i had a 2001 Integra GSR with a 98 spec JDm ITR swap, it would pull hard in vtec but i think the s2k has a little harder pull in VTEC. I love my just recently purchased 03 spa s2k, it does have power but I miss my teggy. It was fast for what it had i would run 13.6-13.7 all day.

The s2k is a whole new experiance,

That is because the STi IS faster! It has 60 more HP! Turbo's are also a little more dramatic under acceleration due to lag.

Lack of low end torque makes the S feel doggy just driving around. WOT, high RPM HP is very deceptive though. And high heat/humidity can definitely make a huge difference in "off the line" experience. Seriously, the detuning from heat soak is like night and day difference at times...

I've only owned the S2000 for a few days now but I did make an interesting observation.

Let me first say some other cars I owned were a 400HP WRX, and a Firehawk.

I think because the S2000 is a light car, with very stiff suspension you don't get the "sucked into your seat" feeling you get in heavier, more softly sprung cars.

In the S2000, I notice that the slightest dip of the throttle while running 50 MPH in 6th gear will send me around other cars doing 50mph like it was nothing. But in the S2000 it doesn't even feel like you are accelerating at all. In my Jeep Liberty (my other ride currently), i'd have to stomp on it and get the automatic to drop a couple gears and run up to 5,000 RPM to get the same amount of acceleration.

I bet if I did the same thing in the S2000 and the Jeep Liberty and asked my passenger which felt like it was accelerating faster, they'd say the Liberty. It would be because the Liberty's motor was screaming, and because the soft suspension threw you back in your seat a bit.

Back when I was selling cars (okay not all that long ago), we had an s2000 traded in. A friend of mine was interested in picking up a used one so I let him know we had an '01 traded in and he came to test drive it. We went out driving in it and at one point he decided to REALLY test it and went WOT from a light. As he banged 2nd, 3rd, and into 4th pretty much perfectly at redline and very very fast gear changes, I was wincing as though I expected the engine or trans to simply EXPLODE at the strain. The power and the noise of a WOT'd stook is pretty frightening/impressive when you're the passenger... I second that! Especially when previously around boring people test driving boring cars all day.
