S2000 switch from KPH to MPH
I have searched here and on google & I appear to be drawing a blank. I have imported my late brothers 2008 model S2000 from Abu Dhabi to UK. I'll need to make a few changes (Headlights, Fog light etc).
The cluster is permenantly fixed on KPH. There is no SEL button second from the left (no writing, just a black button). Pressing it does nothing. JDM?
I'm keen not to buy a new UK cluster, but would like to understand the right approach to making a change. Here's what I've found so far:
(1) Soldering a wire from this switch to somewhere on the cluster PCB. Would be fine with that, but I haven't seen any instructions/ clues as to what goes to where.
(2) reflashing an eeprom (93C56). I'm up to that, but it seems like a mistake could render the cluster inop. Checksums etc.
(3) installing a converter module so that the ODO and Speedo represent mph, but the cluster still shows kph. Not liking that idea tbf.
Would someone be able to provide some direction. Feeling a little stumped.
Pete

Got a photo of the dash? Is this a 2008 AP1 engined car or AP2 engined car? (Not that makes any difference, I'm just curious.) We've seen a 2007 USDM (AP2 engine) car with an unknown AP1 dash in the past few days.
#3, if it even exists, seems the easiest. "Km" wouldn't offend me but there may be MOT requirements it either be MPH or nothing at all. Similar "pull the bulb" discussions we're having in the other thread.

"MPH" is hiding under there. Haven't been able to fine what the part numbers on the lower edge mean but they were on another panel we've seen in the past few days that had been retrofitted to a USDM AP2 engine car.

It is very common to include features (like the mph indicator) that are not used on some models on the same part. Greatly reduces mfg cost to have a single sku for the parts. So may be it is the correct gauge cluster and the feature to switch between MPH and KPH is just not included

The "1550-L5" text at the bottom of the dash housing indicates it's the version without the mph-km/h select feature. This was used for "continental" Euro cars, where metric is obligatory.
For the UK, where both metric and english are used, the "1550-L2" version of the dash was used; that version includes the select feature.
