there is a reason that the s doesn't come with an auto tranny... because then it would be a gay miata....

Only 5% of NA and NB Miatas were built with automatics. Not sure about the NC.

i think if the S really did come with an automatic. you would lose the whole reason behind the car and it would be a lot slower b/c of the lack of torque to change gears. that last statement, i am not sure. i had some explain that to me, me was a mechanical engineer, so he does know his stuff. but i am a biologist and have no idea what he was saying to. something about numbers. but yes, the S would be slower, that is all i can remember.

It might be slower because the drivetrain losses would be higher than from a manual transmission. More places for the energy to be lost due to friction...
