Default s2000 stolen...can you shed some light?

so my s2000 was recently stolen and i know it's equipped with the theft immobolizer (sp?) but the thief didnt take my key, my question is..is it possible for the car to be started/hotwired without the key and if so is it fairly easy to do since in my situation i was gone for less than an hour...any help/info would be appreciated.

I don't know how reliable this source is:

http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/-how...top-ar8250.html

but that's what I found with a quick search on google.

What time of the day did this happen, location, aftermarket alarm, etc...???

Away from your question, is it possible for them to just have towed it depending where it was? I've seen tow truck "people" hook a car up in less than a minute and be off.

Anyways, sorry to hear your loss. Things like these just pisses me off. Did you have Lojack working?

IMHO - I believe anything is possible w/knowledge, equipment, money, etc.. but more than likely they put it on a flat bed or towed it out to strip it. I hope everything works out for you.

they could've towed it but i wasnt gone that long and it was a fairly small parking lot, so i doubt that was a possibility...

A spare key could've been made...this is why I encourage people to hide/ (cover) their VIN.

Sorry for the lost.

I never even thought of that scenario!! Wouldn't a dealership require some sort of proof that the car actually is owned by the person getting a key? I guess they could forge some kind of document like registration - but wouldn't the VIN still show up as belonging to the current owner? The thief would need a fake proof of identity saying he was the current owner then wouldn't he????
