S2000 Stolen

27,500 is not that bad considering you can get an 03 for 29k and change. But then again you must of spent 3-4k on addons. I would be p'sed off too. Did you show them the receipts for what you spent on the car?? I remember getting a radio stolen and had to show receipts of a better than stock radio to the insurance company at the time.

First off, standard insurance policy: Your mods will not get paid for unless you declare them to the insurance company, with recipts and then pay a higher premium becuase you are declaring the car to be worth more then it is (without the mods). I wouldn't waste money on a car apprasier because legally unless your mods are covered in your insurance policy in writing they do not have to pay for them. Sorry dude, it sucks, I know.

i agree $27,500 is not bad at all. My car has 16k miles and I cannot even sell it for $24k stock. Your car is the same '01, same color, etc.....
Mine even comes with a 75k mileage warranty and I still cannot sell it for $24k.
Wish you would find your old one, and sell it to me for $12k as a theft recovery.

Is the 27500 after deductable paid? I wouldn't waste my time getting an appraiser. Just hold tight and they are usually good for one bump, although their first offer sounds pretty good to me also. They usually "have a check in each pocket" so just hold out, hope you had rental reimbursement as if they are paying for your rental car while you hold out, they want out faster! I think you guys are real close and put this deal together. Maybe you should lower your sights a little, they come up a little.....And you go down and get an 03'. I like my 02' much better than my 2000 I had for most of a year as a demonstrator where I work. Good luck and keep your cool.... Phil

Negotiate. Get price quotes for the equipment, and start there. Fax it over to them. When they see paperwork, then they know you are serious and are more likely to make a counter offer.
This happened to a friend of mine (different kind of car) and he
did very well using this approach.

they'll probably make a second offer, BUT
here's the question....
were you paying an additional insurance premium for those aftermarket accessories, if so, then you should go the appraiser route, if not, then you you don't really have anything. think about, one could say that the car was supercharged, had a platinum steering wheel and a diamond encrusted shift knob and even though you may have receipts, it doesn't mean that those items were on the vehicle when it was stolen.
either way, good luck. $27,5 doesn't sound like a terrible first offer, though. 03's are selling for invoice.
