Excerpt from Chapter 5 "X-Bone Frame," page 86, of the just released book HONDA S2000 by Daniel F. Carney:
"Even the steering wheel itself fell under the engineers' scrutiny. 'Magnesium alloy is used as the core material to reduce the inertial mass of the steering wheel, and the center of gravity offset was made infintely close to zero,' [Yutake] Otobe [Chief Engineer of Honda R&D] said.
Stuffing a light steering wheel with a big, heavy air bag assembly would be counterproductive, so Honda whipped up a new air bag especially for the S2000 that let them use a smaller diameter steering wheel. And the smaller diameter contibutes to a reduced moment of inertia."
Carney's book is full of interesting nuggets like this. I started reading it last night and couldn't put it down until I was finished. I highly recommend it!

That telephone number is incorrect. The one you supplied is for American Van Equipment, not Motorobooks. The correct number is 1-800-458-0454.
