Default S2000 PPF Film

Has anyone had PPF (XPEL or Suntek) applied to their S2000? If so, what did you pay/where did you have it done? Looking to do the bumper, hood, and front fenders. So far my first offer is $1995 which I'm not sure is reasonable or not.

I have used XPEL on both my S2000 and NSX and 3M on my '04 IS 300. S2000 covered on entire front of car forward of the doors (except glass), rocker panels, and mirrors. Done by a licensed installer in Chicago. I seem to recall paying around $1700 several years ago. $1995 is probably reasonable for a reputable installer. It's pricey but money well spent. It's important to get a good installer for the film. The outfit who did my Lexus did a poor job when compared to the other 2 cars, but I think the problem was in the installation rather than the 3M film itself.

I did the bumper, hood, mirrors, headlights for $280 with 3M PPF. I bought a complete kit. It took me 4 hours to do it. The hood and fenders are the easiest with professional look possible. The headlights and mirrors are little more challenging, with the bumper very challenging. My labour is free so I think I did well overall. Its my 6th car I've done and I'm getting better- its an extremely steep learning curve so I'm glad to be practicing on my own cars...and really, I'm not really fussy since I can remove it. Functional? Yes. It protects the paint and I'm happy to replace it rather than repaint.
I like PPF and like to support my buddy who is the 3M rep for the region. So whether its 3M or Xpel or whoever, its well worth it, especially if you hate stone chips.

good luck

What kit did you buy?
I debated doing part of it myself (like the easy hood), however, I don't believe Suntek nor Xpel had pre-cut kits for the S2000.

About a year ago I purchased an XPEL kit for the headlights. I installed it myself. I have used heat activated adhesive Mylar for many years so I was pretty comfortable putting it on. Just took my time. Looked fine but as the directions noted, there was some clouding under the film that would go away in time. After a week or two it became crystal clear.

I understand it is no longer offered by EXPEL (the S2000 headlight kit) However you can buy the film and do it yourself if so inclined. The secret is preparing the surfaces receiving the film like never before.

I've purchased all my kits from North Tints out of New York. They send them in a roll store tube and come with an applicator. You need to mix your own slip solution and alcohol mix.
As I said, its a very steep learning curve- I watched several youtube videos and talked to my buddy at 3M.

good luck

The previous owner had PPF installed (bumper cover and back up the hood maybe two feet along with the side mirrors and door back edges) so I didn't have to bother with it. That's a good thing because I was the kid that always screwed up the application of the decals on the few model cars that I tried to build. PPF is great but a large scale installation fiasco isn't something that I'd wish for but would likely experience had I tried to do this on my own.
