s2000 performance in winter weather
this past tuesday night, the Northeast (particularly the Mid-Atlantic states) got nailed by a mix of sleet, snow and freezing rain. unfortunately for me, i didn't keep updated with the weather reports and i found myself driving home in this mess with my s. for those pondering whether the s handles well in such weather, i am proud to say the s, with stock tires, exceeded my expectations. with the exception of one situation ( i attempted to vtec from a complete stop which resulted in hydroplaning), i experienced no problems driving home. i have to admit though that this is my first winter owning the s so i haven't experienced driving in snow. from my own experience on tuesday night, if one must drive his/her s in winter weather... please do not vtec.

I have owened an S for a couple of years now and my roomate had one a year before that. Both cars had S-02s and I have to say if you try and drive it in the snow. Good luck and make sure there are no trees or cars nearby. It took us about 5 minutes to get his car in the garage one night. I love my car but refuse to take it out in bad weather(just do not feel safe). I back off on the driving when the temp. gets to cold because I take turns a bit harder than most and I can feel the tires slip out.
Just out of curiousity, how do you vtec from a stop? Not calling you out just wondering.

How do you "hydroplane" in snow?
If you are saying that the temp that day was such that the snow was melting and you were getting standing water, then THAT is NOT real winter driving conditions.
THIS, is REAL winter driving conditions and you won't get 10 feet on the SO2's. On an incline, you might get 10 feet, but not in the direction you think.
