S2000 Paint Quality
After reading several posts here about the quality (or lack there) of the paint on our cars I am left wondering and worrying about how to preserve the paint from any damage. My previous car was a 2001 BMW 325i and it was the first car I ever had where I never worried about the paint. After 5 years and just basic washing, the paint still looked almost brand new.
Is the quality of the paint on our Hondas really that bad? Or is it just bad compared to more expensive cars? How does it compare to the paint on other Hondas (Civics, Accords, etc)?
Lastly, what can I do to minimize paint damage and maintain a shiny, happy car

After 4 years the paint that is on the car looks brand new but it is thin and chips easily. One of my other cars is much older and hardly has any chips. Our G35 has one chip from a big rock after 2 years.

My 01 has 82,400 on it....and the hood has a few nasty chips on it, but the bumper is severly tore up. From what I am told it had a lot of highway miles on it....so I guess you can expect that kind of wear and tear on a car with that many miles on it and of which most were on a highway. I bought it that way, but I am not worried about it because I bought the car to drive, not to take it to car shows and put on display.

The paint on my S2000 is flawless. Not one imperfection. I had an 03 SVT Cobra and after only 800 miles the rocker panels look like some one sand blasted them and the bumper had several paint chips. Honda's paint is top notch in my book.

The paint chips rather easily in my experience. My front bumper is severly chipped at only 18,000 miles; it was not so bad when I got it at 13,000, but the past 5,000 have been mainly freeway miles (in heavy traffic). A clear bra should protect it pretty well, but you've got to get one before any noticeable damage occurs (why protect damaged paint?)

sorry, but I have to say that Honda's paintwork is plain horrible. the paint is so thin I wonder if they only used 1 coat. compare it to german cars especially Audi's. you'll really notice the difference then.
