Sorry to hear about that. My worst fear is that someone would take mine, and hall it down to Mexico. I only live about ten miles away from the border. Hope that you get something out of the insurance, and get a new one.

I'm just as curious as Muz. What was the MO?

Hey guys, I don't know if it was flat bedded away, all I found next to where the car was, was a long antenna off a near by parked car. It was bent in a certain angle. I don't know if they beat the immoboliser as the police have not found the car. My drive way is quite steep and it was parked in a position that only you could drive it out.

It had about 14,000 miles or 20,000 kms if that is what MO stands for.

thanks hecash

theives in Aus have been known to beat some of the last alarms, immobolisers, and some tracking systems. I don't know how it is in the States, but in Aus we have I think the highest rates of car thiefts in the world. Alot of the cars that are stolen are being numbered by panel shops and resold at a cheat price.

Anyway in about a months time I should have a new S2000, or you never know the police might find it.

Regards

Elaug

I too have been told much worse about South Africa including frequent carjackings.

I too am sorry for pestering you Elaug but this info is of vital interest to many S2000 owners I'm sure.

There are so many crooked panel shops out there. I'd like to see them out of business and behind bars. The less educated in Australian society also seem to think that it's normal to obtain items that have 'fallen off the back of a truck'.

Aus2k

I live in Earlwood, I know that the area that I live in is known for car thiefs, but they main go for WRX's and HSV's, I also have a 12sec HSV Maloo Ute, which the theives have tried to take, but the car has an Alarm which has saved it, and a couple of cut off switches.

For those who do not no what a HSV Maloo ute is. It is a sports pickup truck. It has a 5.0litre 308cu in Aus built engine, but I have stroked it to a 6.0L 370cu in, it runs 12.0 @ 113miles and now I am super charging it, hopefully to run a Flat 11sec

Anyway enough of the HSV, the police have the antenna, but it is no good to them.

Where I live there are nothing but houses, so I think that they did not just take it for a joyride. I thought that the immobliser was good enough, but I was wrong.

I used to leave it anywhere without a problem, but it seems that you have to worry where you leave it when your at home

look after your car boys and girls, you just never know.

I hope you guys don't think that the immobilzer is unbeatable. Take a look at the electrical service manual. It's as easy as 1-2-3 to get around for someone who has done their homework. So just be aware people.

A few things to keep in mind:

A vehicle is stolen every 20 seconds in the U.S.

About 90% of all auto thefts are by "HOT-WIRING" the vehicle.

The largest percentage of thefts are by PROFESSIONALS who "hot-wire" to get around alarms and deterrents.

Over 1.5 million vehicles are stolen each year. A $7,500,000,000 annual business.

Nationally, 1 in every 125 autos, vans, trucks and SUV's will be stolen. In California, one in every 100 will be stolen.

Alarms, security systems, immobilizers, "smart keys" and tracking devices DO NOT STOP THIEVES from driving off with your vehicle!
