Default S2000 in literature

Just started reading the new novel "The Second Chair" by John T. Lescroart.

The main character, lawyer Dismas Hardy is driving an S2000 now!

"As he crossed Mission today in his flashy new, silver Honda S2000 convertible, on his way to what was sure to be a controversial meeting, his thoughts, as they did with an exhausting regularity, went back to the events surrounding Freeman's death

The author may own an S2000.

Later in the book the character's daughter borrows the S2000 and is late getting home. Seems she had a flat and it took forever for her to find the spare

Her brother spoke up and said "under the carpet in the trunk" and she said "I know that now".

Who else besides an owner would notice that? Might have been better if she had run out of gas. Finding the spare is easy for newbie compared to finding the filler release device.

I finished the book - not bad. I have read all of the author's books and they have generally been pretty good. I can usually figure out "who done it" before the characters, though. Since I usually get them from the local library, they are always worth the price

The car is mentioned a few times - some specifics, some general. I wish he talk written more about how fun the car is.

I e-mailed the author to ask about the car. I got a reply from his assistant. He is on the road on a book tour so can't reply right away - but she DID confirm that the author does own a silver S2000! She does not know the model year, sebring or silverstone, or if it is black, red/black, or red interior.

As it turns out, the creator of Dismas Hardy happened to buy a silver S2000 a year or so ago, and I just love it. The guy who owns the Honda dealership in my town is a buddy of mine, so I thought he'd get a kick out of seeing the car in my latest, which he did. Glad you enjoyed it, too. Happy driving! John

My own S2000 is Sebring silver, with black interior. It was almost the very first one sold in California, so I guess it must be a year 2000 S2000. Talk about redundancies.

I heard back from the author. Looks like he purchased a used MY2000 sebring/black.

Cool.
