This question reminds me of how I always felt when I walked into a record store and someone asked if he could help me (I can spell after all). "Yeah, where's something I'd like?" How the hell would he know? Well, how the hell would we know? Of course, asking the question here is going to get a predictable answer - buy the S2K.

Earlier this year, I traded my 06 in on an 08 CR (with 12K, instead of ~50K on the odo). In retrospect, I wish I had just bought the CR and kept the standard S. I think I might just look for the perfect 2nd S - I truly love driving this car. In fact, I'm going through withdrawal. I took a tumble which injured my right hand and I've been driving either an 06 Beetle or an 07 Mustang since (because I can't shift too well left-handed). If you enjoy driving an S2K, anything else just won't deliver the same thrill - buy the S2K.

I say that simply because I've reached the point in life where practicality is no longer an issue. The IS is more practical (but not as practical as a sedan). Who needs that? If you do, then buy the IS - otherwise, buy the S2K.

There, I said it three times and you read it three times - you can't fight it; you've been programmed. You're going to buy an S2K. (great choice)

Just take a break from your S and see if you miss it, i drive a saab 95 on the daily and while it's more spacious i long for my S every single day! there's no way i could get rid of my S in favor of a non sports car.

If you do get the IS please get the 350. The 250 is super slow..

IS is way under powered and interior is too small to be a luxury sedan. between the 2 I would take the S2K

s2000 or lexus IS, which one to get?
As always for these threads: test drive.

i like four door cars because theyre just easier to get in and out as i am a 5'9" 180 pound dude.
I'm 5'8" and 170 and I'd never consider an IS or a sedan just because of the 4 doors. Driving experience matters most IMO. Obviously, YMMV if you're even considering S versus IS.

i think i would have a lot more fun in the s2k than if i got the IS, but what would be the best for the future?
Your call to make. No one can tell you what you'll prefer. Best is always highly subjective, regardless of topic. It would help if you specifically stated exactly what you mean by "best" in this context. Best for a particular type of driving? Best as a DD? Best retained value? Something else entirely?

You can collect all the opinions you want but they really won't matter unless the needs/wants of those replying happen to jive with your own.

How would a 4-door matter for the driver getting in and out?
It doesn't specifically but 4 doors are generally easier to get in and out of than the S (consider the context).

You should tell that to Lexus so they can adjust the pricing appropriately. Since when does size define the luxury segment? It is too small to be a luxo-boat maybe...

so last night I test drove the IS-F, I have a 2001 Honda S2000, bone stock just for reference. The IS-F rode like crap, it wasn't smooth over bumps and wasn't really that flat cornering, seats were uncomfortable and hard. 8 speed transmission was sluggish and kinda jerky at downshifts when in manual mode, it didn't feel like it pulled that hard because every time you touch the throttle it changes 4 gears and just feels all confused. It did make a good noise though. End of it I was glad I got into the S2000 for the drive home

dont get me wrong the 2jz is awesome, especially TT but think about it, that motor was designed in what 1991? That is OLD no matter how great it is, technology has clearly over ridden it. 227 HP in a cast iron 3.0 liter six? 240hp in an all aluminum 4?

to be honest you're comparing two very different cars that serve two very different purposes.

i'm all about purpose-driven things so you gotta ask yourself what you're looking for....
