S2000 last production year? 2002?

It has always been expressed to me that the S2000 will only be produced for 4 years, period! It has also recently been expressed that the S2000 is not that great of a seller Nationally and Honda is unsure of its "Nitch" in this market place. Sure in some locations the S2000 moves quickly, however many mid-west sites and sites on the "corners" as well as the extreme north and south no longer carry the vehicle because it is a "slow mover." In fact many offer it as "Order" only. I have never heard anything else, except here.
Of course this is all subject to who you are talking to and where. I live in Ohio and travel to IN, MICH, KY, TENN and SC regularly for my career. This is where I researched the car during the past 3 months prior to buying it. One thing for sure, time will surely tell...
***my dealer called today, my 2002 Black on Black was dropped from the trailer today!!! Too bad I am out of town for another 2 weeks.

It's a car. It'll be produced whilst there is a market for it.

it would be extremely stupid for honda to drop the car after three year of production. it takes tremendous amount of research and testing dollars to come up with a car this good. its unlikely that honda would have recovered the expenses in just three short years of selling a limited production car. s2000 is a niche car, an image car, but stop production after three short years would mean losing whatever honda has achieved.
honda was losing big bucks selling the nsx, but the nsx is still selling after 10 years and will come out with a much better one in two years.

No, the car is mine! They are holding it until I return. Besides they have my deposit already and we have already negotiated the deal. All we were waiting for was the car.
As for the rest..."don't kill the messenger." I will share that in the 11 years of owning a business I have learned not to try to figure out BIG Business. Pepsi once took 9 months to pay a $2300.00 invoice of mine even though you know they had the money. So what took so long? The FAA once stiffed me, and as far as blunders go, Coke quit selling its original formula for New Coke. Huge marketing and image mistake! The car industry is the same. History is riddled with stupid business decisions, automakers (surely) included. Like I said before, time will only tell.
However, if you look at the year to date numbers from Honda America you will see that the Auto-maker is not strong as a "sports car" competitor. Prelude and S2000 represent very, VERY low numbers by comparison to Civic, Accord Odyssey and some others. It also seems that most of its "sporty" attention may now be in its Acura line. Perhaps the interest may be to make the Acura line 2 pronged in the "publics eye;" Sports and Luxury as they both can be considered "High" dollar purchases. While Honda can remain seen as a family car company with family pricing. Hmmmm? Who knows? Again, we will all find out together.
Yes PT Barnum did say that "...a sucker is born every minute," but his reference was surely not to me. Guaranteed! "Hear" is some food for thought ElTianti. When I negotiated my deal I agreed to pay MSRP (without Destination charge) for the car but insisted on true dealer cost for any Honda add-ons I bought. I also insisted that I order my aftermarket mods through their dealership so I could enjoy the purchase at Dealer costs from the manufacturer. In the end, this means I will have saved nearly $2,400 on my Comptech mods and another $1,200 on my 18" Konig Wheels and BF Goodrich Comp T/A (ZR) tires. The dealer was great to work with and the deal resulted in a true win/win for us both. I saved about as much on my mods than than they made on the car. So why argue price when all you'll get is maybe a few hundred bucks. I changed the rules. Very happy too

Oh, I see, you're one of these people who don't realise there is a world outside of the USA, that Honda is a Japanese company selling to a world market, that AHM and Honda are two separate entities, and that Acura is just a marketing scheme.
Suggesting that AHM stop importing the S2000, or that they rebadge it Acura, is not the same as stopping production. No wonder the Coke thing confuses you. Hasn't Coca Cola suffered a result !
