I'd love to be a customer of USAA, but USAA won't have me. I can't figure out why:

Joined USMCR in 1987, served in Desert Shield/Storm, earned a combat ribbon, eligible for membership in the VFW.

That's not good enough for USAA.
That's just not right. The only reason I got in was because my mom was in the Army 44th medical reserve unit (yes, my mom wears combat boots, I've heard all the jokes).

Is it only for officers or something (she retired Full Colonel)??? lol, I'm just a scrub civilian, I don't even know their enrollment rules. wth tho, that's messed up. You served active duty and can't enroll??? If you have family that have accounts with them you can get in that way.

$632.00 every six, I'm 49 and married. Check what coverages you are getting for the money. I have 500 deductable on collision and 100 deductable on comprhensive. I also have roadside assistance and rental car coverage. Mine is through Progressive.

Actually, the high rates are because I told the truth to my insurance company when I wrecked on the track at Fall Colors... or so some folks would like to think.

G6 GT, S2000, Contour, Ram V10 = $2400/yr $500 deductible with Allstate. And yes, they covered my track excursion.

I'm even luckier. My mother worked for USAA for about two years, and that got her a lifetime membership, and me one for being her daughter!

I totaled a car last year, my third at fault accident since '97, and I pay $650 per six months with my S as my daily driver in Atlanta.

I thank my mom all the time for getting that job over twenty years ago!

I'm 21, and I pay $105 a month. Full coverage, $250 deductibles, roadside/rental, etc. It's way less than what I was paying on my old '99 Civic Si (which did indeed eventually get stolen). USAA rules!

It used to be only for officers, but they changed that in 1997. Everybody in my company switched to USAA then! They were hella cheaper than anyone else.

Yeah, that's kind of screwed.

The way I got into USAA:
My grandfather was retired military. My mom is the child of a USAA member, so she was eligible to join. And I am a child of her, a USAA member, so I'm eligible to join. Crazy stuff, but I'm not complaining!

I was with Nationwide Insurance before this, and the cheapest they could offer me was $148/month.
