S2000 feels weird, need some good advice!

Yeah, i figured it wasnt the tires alone causing it to fishtail but you really do need new tires. Get them on or stop driving, because if its raining like you say it is, you're asking for a world of hurt. Trust me... I went sideways on the freeway going 55mph in moderate rain when I let my tires go down. I was lucky and I didnt wreck but I sure as hell learned my lesson. Or so I thought. I let my 2nd set go down to the wear bars and I thought I had tread left...and BAM spun out on an offramp going 30, popped both airbags and scuffed my front bumper (minor accident but two blown airbags + seat belt charges + new alignment + bumper... If I didn't fix most of it myself I'd have been in the hole over 5K.) I later found out that off ramp is notorious for being slick because of the runoff from the rain...but if I had good tires, I probably wouldnt have wrecked.

Is it possible that replacing only one shock on the rear is causing at least some of this. Yes, he needs new tires, but if the other rear shock (original shock on the other side) is not doing the same damping as the new shock, it will make the two sides operate differently.
I have never replaced only one shock. Even on older cars when I would warranty out a shock at an auto parts store. I would warranty out both or all 4.
I know that if one shock on one corner is bad, the suspension feels very unstable. The same seems possible if you have 3 older shocks, and 1 new shock.

Seriously? 27k miles you're debating changing the tires? Please change them now before they cause an accident.

I said that on the 5th post down, as well as suggesting he ask the alignment tech what the specs were.

I too was in the same boat, especially in the rain. The car felt like it was on ice even at low speeds. However, I did buy new 255 40 17 Falken ZE - 912 tires for the rears. Car is in storage now so I'll be putting them on first thing when I put it back on the road in the spring. I will also be doing a wheel alignment. I'm debating on changing the fronts but havent decided yet, Fronts are still new but have UHP summer tires and wanted to go with a all season UHP tires at all 4 corners. The fronts are Fusion ZRI 225 45 17.
