My S02's had 17,000 miles on them and looked almost that bad when I changed them. My car felt like a completely different car once I put some fresh Hankook RS-2's on them. S2000 rear tires rarely last over 10,000 miles if you like curvy roads and run only ultra high performance summer tires.

Is this serious?? Buy some damn tires before you crash your car. Let's see. Shop told you they were bald, you feel like the back of the car wants to fishtail and slide everywhere at higher speeds, you took pictures showing they are bald and are still wondering if you need tires? I think a little common sense can be applied here before the S get's crashed again!

Thanks guys LOL I was just worried because before my accident my tires seemed fine, and we all know how shady some body repair shops can be. I guess my tires actually showing a physical lack of performance right after I get my car repaired just worried me if the shop did a good job or not.

Anyone have suggestions for new tires on stock 17"s that last long and grip like glue?

A good, cheap and longER lasting summer tire is the sumitomo htrz3's. $100 or less per tire and do feel reallygood imo. Star specs are def much better but a good bit more money.
For all around tire driving in the rain a bunch i really like the sumitomo tires.

BFG-G force sports. I'd say its the best "sticky tire" that lasts for a while. I ran HTRZ IIs, which is a step below the IIIs and those wore out waaay too fast with way too little grip

The HTRZII's are known to be horrible. The HTRZIII's have a great reputation on here as well as with many other performance cars.

I've driven on the IIIs, not my car though so I can't say how long they lasted but I still prefer the BFGs.

I like the HTRZIIIs though they seem kinda floaty on my Work Wheels compared to the sDrives on my Volks. All 18" wheels and have same tire specs.

wow - lots of bashing on the guy about tires.

You do need to change the fronts also. They are cracking and that is not good for safety or performance.

So I took the car back to the shop because I'm still convinced it's not only the bald tires causing this fish tailing. Once they put the car on the hoist, relieving the weight of the car, they told me my rear trailing rod had some slack in it so they're going to replace it and re-align...
