Default S2000 engine components

NO luck, so guys can you tell me if we have forged pistons and rods ?..I would think so because of the stress the engine has to endure @ 9krpm especially in a production car, hOw about the valves? are they lightweight?..whats the biggest difference between the f20c engines against b16, b18c or k20a?..Im just curious..put in ur F20c knowledge and share the wealth.. thx

the f20C and f22c also have carbon fiber-aluminum cylinder liners opposed to cast iron on other honda engines. The material is called Fiber Reinforced Metal (FRM) and is also on the NSX. The block is cast around these sleeves rather than the sleeves being pressed in like other honda motors.

The roller rockers are sintered steel. sintering is a process of heating metal to near melting point so that the molecules bond strongly. Also, the process yields parts that are smooth and need minimal refinishing. The B series uses regular rockers; the K-series has roller rockers...not sure if they are sintered or not.

The S2000 also has "skirtless" pistons as opposed to the skirted ones (read taller) ones on other hondas. This reduces friction and lowers weight. The S2000's cylinders are also bored using a "dummy head". Usually, when you mount the head, the cylinders slightly deform. The S2000 is bored with a head so the cylinders are perfect circles with a properly torqued head mounted. Also, I think the S2000 motor is ported, too.

One final note, although the Accord SiR has a F20B, this motor is so different than the F20C that the F is the most they have in common. They even spin in opposite directions. The F20B is closer to a H22 than it is to a F20C, actually. Also, the F20C has a lot in common with the K20A.

The cylinder walls are Honda FRM, fiber reinforced material. But, its not carbon fibers that are added, its other type of fiber.
