One thing I always wondered ... Is this some sort of self-fulling prophecy to a certain degree?

S2000 owners tend to rate their own cars higher cuz they generally feel more enthusiatic about their cars, and they feel that Hondas are more reliable. Also, in general, S2000 owners tend to be more knowledgeable of their cars, or even cars in general, and know how to take care of them & care to learn how to do that (i.e. break them in properly, or even for god's sake, know how to drive properly). So better engineering + better owners = #1 place? Hence the higher satisfaction rating they give and better reliability in general? Or no?

This is of course, comparing S2000 to other mass production cars, not comparing S2000 to say Ferraris, those owners have very good knowledge of what they are doing ... at least I hope so

I don't think that is the case. There are more owners of earopean sports cars that are absolutely fanatical when it comes to their cars. I think seeing a high performance sports car at the top of both categories is even more impressive. Before the Miata sports car and reliability were never included in the same sentence.

This is why I didn't buy an M Roadster or Boxter.

taking care of a car will not help it to be genuinely reliable in the end. especially not european.

i have taken two powers surveys for my honda, each time they send you $1.00 for your time, it takes about 20minutes to complete the survey, give or take.

i rated my honda very highly each time, i have been very lucky with this car and the other honda products i own and have owned. i did not say anything special about how much i like the car, i do, but the survey is more about satisfactions and problems than love of machinery.

i believe that this type of follup up (my car is over 2 years old) is a good thing, the longer the term the better.
