S2000 Dealer Experiences and Pricing
This is my first post on s2ki.com as I'm a new member. I've been reading alot of posts over the last few weeks and have made up my mind to pull the trigger on a new S2000. I currently have a '98 Prelude SH but can only imagine what 45 more horsepower with 300 less lbs and tighter gear ratios feels like.
Anyway, I'm going to test drive one next weekend. For those that bought your cars new, did you give MSRP for it, less than MSRP, or are dealers still gouging the prices?
Thanks for any inputs!

I paid $30,000 even before TT&L.
If I were you I wouldn't pay more than $31,000 before TT&L.
Get on www.hondacars.com enter your zip code, find all the dealers in your area and EMAIL ALL OF THEM telling them that you are serious about purchasing in the next two weeks and that you would like them to email you back with their best offer before TT&L.
You have to play these guys instead of letting them play you. The most important thing is be confident. Inform yourself about the current market, find a price you would be comfortable with, and just make it happen. One other thing...DO NOT let them screw you on trade-in price, assuming you will be letting go of the Prelude. Research what your car is going for with its mileage on nada.com, kbb.com, edmunds.com and get a rough amount that you would be willing to sell the at private party value for. Also, research the trade-in value. DO NOT let them convince you at the dealership that because they are being leninant on their side of the pricing, on the new car, that you have to do the same with your trade-in. NOT TRUE.
All I can say is be patient, informed, and trust your instinct.

On Wednesday I placed an order for mine, 1000 over invoice. The color I wanted was not in stock and I wanted one to arrive at the dealer in plastic. He called me on Friday and told me I would get it in April.
