I'm thinking about getting a s2k, I was wondering how would it make as a daily driver, espically in the rainy city of WA. Also how does it run in the snow...
My 07 is my daily driver. I have no complaints. I think ground clearance will be the first issue when driving in the snow. I had an MR2 years back. On some of the less traveled roads, snow would build up in the middle of the lane to a point where my car would act like a big scraper. You could see a nice flat surface wherever I had driven. The debris and frozen snow really beat up the lower air dam. As far as traction goes, get some dedicated winter tires, I recommend Nokian RSI and with the LSD, some weight and stability control, you'll be fine. I think it's the tires that make all the difference. I got lazy one year and didn't have winter tires on my wife's Corolla. We would just spin out and get stuck. I found a set of almost new Hakkapeliitta (by Nokian) winter tires. The car was f-ing unstoppable.

I DD mine in rain, snow, etc and never had any problems. I didnt even need any extra weight in the trunk. Dedicated snow tires and I was off.

Daily driver, and I have Michelin X-Ice tires on it from the end of Nov. until the end of March. Decided on those when Consumer Reports claimed that they were the best on ice. Car hasn't let me down yet, and the heater keeps me toasty in the coldest weather. I'd suggest that if you do get snows, you get a second set of rims to put them on.

I daily drive my car and have the miles to prove it lol. My s2k is far from a weekend beauty queen.

It's not difficult at all, the s2k, although lacks a lot in the interior, its really not that bad. It's fun to drive and that's important in a daily driver for me, cuz if i get bored, i get sleepy.

DD mine. I think it says a lot about the person who DD's this car. Very low maintenance and feasibility is not an issue, just raw experience. I think that sums me up pretty well haha.

It's will be a DD, thought i was going to get my bro's beater truck for the winter and pay him to borrow it for the rough months but he's letting his beater(aka gf) use it. How much are cheap snows for this bad boy? im a very good driver in snow...i drive slow as balls as to not crash =)

The Michelin X-Ice are less than $100 a tire. Well worth the money. For maximum ice and snow grip, you need a tire with a flexible sidewall, which is not in the interests of dry pavement handling, so when you are on bare road, you will notice a real difference in handling with the X-Ice tires. Some people prefer tires with ice and snow performance that is somewhat compromised in favour of dry pavement handling. So you may with to go with those kinds of winter tires. But being in Rochester, your winter weather is snowier (but slightly less icy) than what I have in Ottawa. If I were you, I'd go for the X-Ice and screw the handling performance for a few months. The X-Ice are also cheaper than the performance winter tires. Of course, if studded tires are legal where you live, then that's a whole other equation altogether.

mine is daily driven and rain is no problem as long as your tires are in good shape. as for snow ive only driven in snow a couple times but summer tires and snow is a no-no. you dont go anywhere fast. im sure with winter tires and a little more weight in the rear and you'd be fine.

This car isn't bad in the snow, but I sure don't like driving any RWD sports car in the snow. I drive an Avalanche when it's snowing outside, but daily drive the S probably 9 months a year.
