Check out this thread posted on the Bay Area section. Seven brand new 2001 s2000's priced at 32,740. There is even a "demonstrator" car for sale below MSRP.

These prices are nuts!!! Plus, I'm very suspect of cars that are being sold as new but have 100+ miles on them. With that mileage, the odds high are that someone had some vtec fun with it.
I bought my s2k from a dealer in ohio two months ago and had it shipped to CA. These dealers are desperately trying to unload their 2001 inventory and will likely take any "reasonable" offer since convertible season in the midwest ended a while back. The Farmington Hills dealership put out a post recently that they have two 2001's to sell at below msrp (but wouldn't list a specific number). I'm sure you could get a new one from one of these dealers with shipping included from a reliable auto shipper with good insurance for under $32K. YOu could locate a dealer through the internet, negotiate a deal via telephone, fax, email and then sit at home while the car is delivered to your door. Make sure you have a detailed contract from the dealer though.

ridiculous asking prices of the dealers are way over inflating the real value of the car. and remember asking price does not equal actual car value. selling price does. any item you sell (in this case a car) is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
just to prove a point, let's all post our S2000 for sale for $40K on all the internet sites. i would sell mine for that much in a heartbeat and we can get that average price up fast. who knows, maybe one of us will get lucky and some schmuck will buy it for that much...

I have an office mate that is looking seriously. He says:
'2000's closing for 26K - 30K
'2001's closing for 28K - 31K
'2002's contracting for 32K - 35K
Anything higher is just a salesman's dream or an impatient sucker.
