Default S2000 Concerns

Hey everyone.

I am planning to purchase my first S2000 in the next month or so.
I am looking at a 2000 or 2001 model, so it will be used. Is there anything in particular that I should look out for. Any Problems i should know about.
If I can get a good enough deal I will buy a Certified one from the dealership.
Thx a Million

if money isn't a problem i'd get an 02 or up, only because i don't like the plastic rear window... not sure if money's an issue. Also by 02 they got lots of kinks fixed I'm a proud own of a new 03' and I couldn't be happier. But a S is a S you'll be happy no matter what! Enjoy! go get it now! i command you

I have an MY00 and had no problems. Proper care will keep the plastice window in good shape. If cost is a consideration and you are looking at an early model ensure that all TSB's have been done.

Make sure the clutch and oil jet bolt TSB's have been done, along with the 2nd gear grind TSB. If not, ask them to perform all the TSB's before you purchase the car, ask if there is a warranty. Usually certified hondas hava a 6yr 100k mile warranty on them.

Hey all,
I'm new to the board here. I am also lookin at purchasing a S2000. I just wrote off my 01 prelude and figure its time to move up. I am currently looking at a mint 01 S2k, silver with 28,000 km's on it. I am from canada, just to clarify. They are asking 37,300 for the car. Do you all think that is fair?? They are 50k new here. Also, what kinda maintenance do you do to the plastic rear window?? Thanks everyone, look forward to getting to know you all!!

that doesnt sound like too bad of a deal. Easiest way to keep up on the plastic window is to buy a window tube (muz sells them for example) and use some cleaner and protector on it constantly. Many people have had no problems with the plastic window as long as you take care of it.

Pop on over to the PacNW forum. There are bunch of great folks in your area that would be willing to help out.

For more info on the differences in the MY's, please read teh FAQ at the top of this forum. It shows alot of changes and helpful threads to look at for this info.

BTW, I would reccomend also the MY02+ just because of the rear window. Other then that, the lowest I would go is MY01 (only cuz they didnt offer Spa in 00)

Manitoba is FAR from the Pacific Northwest....

It's three provinces over.
