How many of you plan on keeping your S for a long period of time?

With the rumored '04/'05 changes to the S, do you feel that MY2000-2003 will be worth more $ and become a collectors item?

I'm hoping that because of the limited production numbers, along with multiple other reasons that we all know of, It does become a collector's piece. Whatever the case, I plan on keeping my MY2002.

I know my 2000 with 29,000 miles just went thru auction Tuesday and only brought $20,800. The average trade in value is in the high 18,000 range for an excellent cond car. I tried to sell mine to my Honda dealer and they said they could not sell it and did not want it. It sounds like the value is dropping and that should only happen in the winter time, during summer the value should be high. It also sat here on the lot for 60 days with no one looking hard at it.

Convertables often sell best before the summer in the north and just before the winter in the south. I have no intention of selling mine in the future.

Ouch, I live in the Cinci area as well, and I have listed my car on autotrader for a casual sale and have had no offers or even anyone asking about it in 3 months. It's a 2001 with 24k with lots of dealer extras (about $3k) and I had it listed for $26k. Nada. My friend bought a new 03 here for $29k. Oh well, no body wants to buy used cars because of low interest rates and REALLY low uesd car demands. No biggie, I guess I'm stuck driving this s2000

But back to the original topic, I can see the current s2000 becoming more desireable to enthusiasts and track demons if the current rumors regarding softening of the s2200 are true. But unfortunately these people do not make up any sort of majority and unless the s2000 finds some sort of Toyota Supra popularity, it will probably have the same depreciation as a miata.

I have always known I was keeping my S for a very long time, in fact I still have my '90 CRX-Si... As far as value is concerned, this issue does not mean much to me because I am planning to keep it.

I suspect if the S has any collectors value, the difference in price 20+ years down the road will not be very different between an '03 or an '04.

To me, because of they made it in the old plant is already means somthing spacial already.

Every market has a cycle, and right now, the car market as well as a lot of other markets are down. Used home sales have fallen, but new homes sales have gone up. Used car sales have fallen; new cars sales have stayed rather steady because of all the discounts. Just this morning I heard on the radio that the 2003 Trailblazer has a $5000 cash rebate and if you are a returning Chevy owner, you get an additional $1000 as well. That is $6,000 off the price you negotiate. Why would anyone want to buy a used car? You can get low % financing and rebates on new vehicles. When the economy stabilizes, the car market will stabilize 12 to 24 months later, prices will begin to climb.

i am so glad i got the original s2000, the way it was meant to be. i feel that the new s2000(for '04) is a much more refined version fit for the average person(who complains about stiff suspension, etc).

the 00-03 s2000 is the true enthusiast's car. we should be lucky.
