Default S2000 40 years away from now become classic cars..

Guys and gals,

Just want to throw this out there and see if anyone thinks our S will become classic cars and appreciate in value, just like some antique cars.

I watched the Barrett Jacksons show from time to time, but I never see a Japanese hot rod being auctioned.

You always see middle aged white men(no offense to some of my friends out here) bidding on some old American cars or Italian cars.....

Maybe many years later, when we are all retired, we should get together and organize an auction just for Japanese hot rods! (S2000, NSX, Nissan Z, Skyline, supra.....)

Just some crazy wishful thinking.

If I understand correctly, to qualify for "antique" an object must be more than 100 years old. So 40 years from now, the S2000 will not be an "antique", it will just be a vintage car.

There was a previous thread about a restored Honda S600 from the 1960s, and it was looked upon with admiration by the current S2000 owners. So I'd expect 50 years from now (on Honda's 100 year anniversary), they would introduce another S model and by then, our S2000 would acquire the "classic vintage" status.

I think the correct term is "Classic", not antique.

Antique specifications vary by state really. Here in Tennessee, you can get an antique tag for any car older than 30 years. Then it is technically considered an antique.

to The Hoth's question,

yea, i think any car could be antique, classic, blah, blah, all that jazz in many years later.
i'm sure there will be more than a few die-hard japanese car collectors in, say, the year 2040 and beyond.

somehow i doubt s2000 will be "highly valuable collectable" tho.

you know you can always find some NICE honda/ datsun vintage auctions in japan.

Yeah, even a fully restored mint condition Pinto would be considered a prize in a collectors garage. So the car has really nothing to do with it. The scarcity, condition and age of any car is what would determine it's value as a classic.
