I personally welcome another sports car into the world. As mentioned previously though, the 350Z and the S2000 are two completely different cars. Originally Nissan planned to introduce the Z coupe and Z spyder at the same time. I haven't heard anything in regards to the spyder's release but don't rule out a convertible model in the near future. The Z's engine is a tweaked version of the Nissan / Infinity engine which graces almost every car in Nissan's lineup. I'm still not sure they have a finalized horsepower output listed... last I saw it was listed as "at least 280". There are 5 different trim versions of the Z with the track version topping out at $37,513.00.
I think Nissan has done a complete 180. Just a few years ago there were rumors that the company would be bankrupt. I think their aggressive marketing and "more bang for the buck" strategy is paying off.
If all you are worried about is heated seats and an outside temperature monitor... you can add these comforts to any car as an aftermarket item for around 200 bucks.
The car I would be most interested in comparing to the S2000 is the Mazda RX8. From what I hear, the chasis was designed very similar to that of the S2000... which could mean a convertible model at release date.
