S2000 1/4 mile time question?
I am looking at buying an s2000. I used to have a 91 crx with a ZC engine and about 180 HP. I sold about a year ago and am looking at the s2000. I am curious to know what kind of HP gains and 1/4 mile times I would get from the following:
AEM v2 cold intake
header
exhaust
lightened flywheel(no hp here)
bored throttle body
The s2000 does the 1/4 mile in 14.2????? With these mods where would I be looking?? Upper 13's? Thanks for any help

A stock S can do anywhere from 13.8 to 14.5 stock, depending on the driver and how nice you are to the clutch.
The I/H/E will add maybe 5HP, and all of it in the top end.
With the H/E, you can't throw DC junk on it and expect gains. A good header is almost $1000! The exhaust is also mostly for sound. Horsepower is trivial, but the weight savings is significant. A good exhaust is 15 pounds, compared to what feels like 70 for the stock system.
A lightened flywheel gives no power gains, but it does up the HP to the wheels. Why? It reduces the drivetrain losses, so where flywheel HP stays the same, wheel HP goes up, some report up to 5HP. Again, the bored TB won't give much, either.
So, all in all, you may knock .1 to .2 off your quarter time.
If you are looking for the best NA mod to make you go faster, a 4.7 final drive gearset will improve your times by more than all the other mods combined! If you are into dragging, I suggest getting the Comptech reinforced differential. You can send the stock diff and the 4.7 gearset to them and they'll install the gears along with the new diff parts.
That said, the S2000 is not made to drag race. While it does very well (even with MY04 and under mustang GTs and LT1 V8s) its strength is handling prowess.

Just out of curiosiity....
There are lots of cars out there which can be had for a lot less than the S2000, which are much more natively designed for drag racing. It seems kind of silly to flog a wonderful sports car on the drag strip. If you are interested in dragging the car, why not get a car designed for it?

You get a heck of a lot more than 5whp and not just on top. A stock MY03 dynos anywhere from 200-205whp. They all vary, but I would assume this example is a stronger MY03. Whatever the case may be, this one put down near 224whp.
Of course, you're probably looking at about $3000 worth of mods here for maybe 15-20whp. Not a very good bang for the buck.
