Just thought I'd drop everyone a line to clear up the Alpine interface problem.

There is now a brand new (Revision.1) interface available, KCE-865E from Alpine. This clears up the problem when the radio mutes every time the lights are turned on.

The 10K resistor has now been included in the interface so no external modifications are necessary.

Contact Norris Sandiford @ Alpine on Tel: 01908 619502, and I'm sure he will be able to exchange any older interfaces for the new revised one.

Norris sent me one out at the begining of the week and it's sorted.

I have a KCE-865B still in its packaging. Are you sure this guy will be cool if I phone him for a swop?

 

No problem, should be OK at the end of the day the original interface doesn't work properly. Give him a call you've got nothing to loose.

Is the "fix" and revisioning to the 'E' the reason why no one has been able to purchase any 865B's ? Did Alpine put a halt to production of the 'B' so they could release the 'E'?

Just curious...

I'll bet they will try all of the car's accessories before releasing a product in the future...
