Thumbs up is the S still a hot seller?

so i'm the market for an 04 rio, and i was looking at the o5's. to make it short i went to a local dealership and told me the best they could do was invoice, which is 30,154. well im in no rush so im still looking today i get an email that they have two my05 on sale for 29,888.

so i dont know if i should wait to find an o4 with a good price or buy this one.

btw im putting down 10k and would finance the rest for 60 months.

do you think the S is starting to lose its resale value

Damn....that's insane. NorCal? Which dealer was this that you contacted? Maybe a few more grand on an '05 makes more sense than getting one used. But then I still need to figure the pre'04 vs post '04 thing for myself first. Good to know though. Here in SoCal, I haven't tried negotiating but they're at least MSRP to start.

That explains it. I guess we could've said I'm in the market for an s2000 and color really doesn't make a difference in the price so why mention it.

The S2000 has never had great resale value as far as I can tell - too many owners keep their cars in garages and drive them only on sunny weekends, so there are a lot of low mileage used ones floating around in good condition.

Still, when it comes time to sell, having an '05 will get you a few thousand more than having an '04, even though they are the same car with the same mileage.

I'd say anything under $30K is an awesome price (for new).

Anything under $31K is still good.

Was the S ever a hot seller? Maybe for the first week after it was introduced.
