I had been somewhat disenchanted with the reliability of my 2005 S2000 for a little while. I had problems with the clicking noises coming from the soft-top (fixed with velcro), the bumper alignment issues, and was less than impressed by the quality of the paint (coming from a BMW 325i).

But...

I have recently been researching getting a Ford Mustang GT and it was quite an eye-opener. These new 'stangs have problems with areas of the car not getting painted, improper undercoating, gas tank design, popping noises from the rear-end, door handles falling off, cheap carpeting, etc. I was amazed at how many BASIC problems the new cars had. And even when I checked the Ford employee forums I saw where the employees themselves (who are damn proud of the work they do) were questioning the quality control of the new cars.

So...I think all-in-all, my S2000 has been damn reliable. I had high expectations for a 30k+ car and I think initially I was disappointed in small things. But when it comes to the big, basic things I think the car is fairly rock-solid.

Thanks everyone for your comments on my concerns about the reliability of the S2000. I really like the SK1 comminity and their concern for other S2000 car owners. You guy's are really helpful. I hope you can understand my concern about the car when I see the problems in our forums. I think I will go drive my car. Thanks again all you folks who responded to my post.

I just got back from driving the S 5000 km over the last 3 weeks and it was flawless. People only post when there are issues, and S2Ks are driven harder than the average car and S2K drivers tend not to put up with anything less than perfection. People who drive appliances tend to let things go and then dispose of the car. Those drivers won't bitch about anything b/c they could care less.
- I have driven my S for almost 7 years now and other than a dead battery (original), can't say I have had any problems!

Yes there are tons of threads regarding problems. But you dont see the 500000 threads saying

"Hey guys, car is running well"

You will only hear of problems, not reliability. My car is pushing on 4 years, and not a single hiccup.
