Whaler,I think you may have a little trouble finding an 03 at or under MSRP right now because the major price jack up is when the next year models first hit the show rooms. Not saying you can't find one for MSRP but it may take some searching.Warning, many dealers throw on a rear spoiler or some other bolt on part and try and tell ya that's why it's priced at $40,000.I'd suggest going bone stock and adding any of that stuff later if you want because you'll save some money.

Whaler
depend on which dealership u go in CA. little bit hard to find a 03 in CA now and i think u would have trouble to stay or under the MSRP for 03. if u dont care about the color, go for 03. 02 and 03 is not too much different. i think u should know it's little bit hard to get the MSRP in CA. a while, honda dealer they are trying to get away from those 02 S, so u would try 02. i heard couple people got the S under $200 - $500 in CA. good luck.

MSRP is not a good price IMO.

People have just become accustomed to paying it because it is supposedly "the standard." I have a quote right now from a local dealership offering me a left over 2002 at $30,495. I still won't take that because personally I think it is too high.

Hold off because you can do much better than MSRP.

Flyin Wedge,

No. Actually it is a brand new car with only 17 miles on it. I'm just too used to paying invoice or below for all my cars and I am not about to stop now.

Good luck 606. The best price I've heard of is $30,500 or thereabouts from a dealer in Chicago. TX may be easier, but in SoCal, MSRP is considered a good deal. There are just too many people willing to pay the price here for dealers to deal. Unless they have '02s on the lot, in which case, they may be willing to negotiate a bit, but not from what I've heard.

news2kroller, if you get that deal, you're a lucky guy!

Actually, I got mine just about a year ago for $29,800.

Especially in the midwest, this may be the time of year to buy a convertible. I just can't see them stampede off the dealer's lots (did they really forecast the first snow flakes for this week?). Depending on your local price and the shipping costs (figure about $900 from Chicago to the West Coast) it may be worth it to buy a car from out of state.

The dealer I bought my S2000 from has another sitting at his dealership (MY02, black/red interior). It's been sitting there for a few weeks, so I am sure they are willing to deal.

Check out this thread for local pricing benchmarks.

And click here for some dealer information.
