Just looking at the S03 I'd say it is better set up for wet traction but not as good for dry. This can depend a fair amount on compounds in the tire as well. I'm sure there are people here who have experience with both that can give you more concrete information.

I have had the following:

OEM S02
S02
S02 Pole Position
S03 Pole Position

Best dry:
Non OEM S02

Best wet:
S03 PP

Best All around:
S02 Pole Position.

Just my .02

After many discussions I decided to get new S03 tires. I received them a few days ago and got them installed.

My first impression's are on appearance:
1) The tires are more rounded.
2) The tire is thicker around the stock rim. It is a benefit sold as rim protection but it does not look as sporty because the sidewall is not as flat.
3) I ordered stock sizes. The fronts are slightly wider by 1/2 inch and the rears are almost the same when I lined them up next to each other. The specs read the S02 tires are 2/10 of an inch wider.

Performance:
1) The ride is smoother. Definitely noticeable.
2) 300 mile's so far and it has rained everyday. Performance in the rain is great.
3) I have not been able to drive it much under dry conditions but the few corners that where dry I noticed a slight turn in. Hard to describe. It could have been that they are new and I am looking for something to notice. Time will tell.
4) This is the tire to have if you are a daily driver.

Of course this is only my opinion.

Here's the link to Tirerack's tire survey results for max performance tires.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/max.jsp

It compares 13 tires, including the S-02, S-02 PP, and S-03 PP. The S-03 is top-ranked, and rated higher than the S-02 or S-02 PP in every category (including dry traction).

Of course, this is customer input only, and I'm sure Tirerack is careful to say it isn't scientific. I also wish it reported number of surveys rather than number of miles. Still, I have to be impressed with the fact that customers have been pleased so far with the S-03 PP, and I'm leaning toward them for my next set of tires.

Now I just have to work out sizes...

I was quoted some outragoues prices for the s03's, so until they get a little cheaper I'll stick with the s02.

like the S-O2 is there a S-O3 and a S-O3 PP? What is the difference? Which will wear better?

No. The S03 replaced the S02 pp. I am really happy with the S03 tires.
One thing to note. The installer put 51 psi in all the tires. That is what the tire recommends but of course I lowered it a few days later. What a difference. 500 miles so far and these tires really stick to the pavement.

How did the installer derived 51 PSI? And what did you finally change it to?
